Exceptional Hungarian Wines, and the Stories Behind Them

Maybe you’ve already attended one of our other wine tastings, or perhaps you just want to dive right into the top tier of high-quality Hungarian wine. This sommelier-led tasting features eight of the most exceptional Hungarian wines, paired with a generous selection of local farmhouse cheese, charcuterie and ham, and cold bites prepared by our chef. A Hungarian wine tasting would not be complete without finishing with something sweet, and this tasting will end with two very special Tokaji Aszú wines (one 20+ years old, and the other on the younger side).

We’ll open our favorite bottles during this tasting—the ones we typically save for special occasions: older vintages, limited or sold out items, rarities, and iconic wines made by very special producers. You’ll get to taste the Tokaji Aszú from the special newly-released crystal wine glasses designed especially for this grape varietal.

Hungarian wine is in a golden period right now, and is more exciting than ever before. Our sommelier will fill you in on the stories behind the wines, the grape varietals, the regions, the winemaking methods, and the producers behind the beautiful wines you will enjoy. We’ll also discuss the importance of wine in Hungarian culture, and important aspects of Hungarian wine history. By the end of the tasting, you’ll have an understanding of Hungary’s place in the world of fine wines, and you will have tasted some of the very best Hungarian wines being produced today!
