This newsletter is our way of sharing information about life in our beloved Budapest and Hungary—particularly the food, wine, culture, and places we love. We often create tours which include nearby or neighboring countries, so this newsletter will sometimes stray further afield. We’ll also use this space to occasionally announce upcoming Taste Hungary trips and other new tours which might interest you.
Newsletters will be sent out weekly, and this is our general concept:
- A Hungarian recipe twice a month. This will be a fully tested recipe (with both US and metric measurements), including a story with some context or history about the dish.
- A Hungarian wine feature once per month.
- A travel or culture feature once per month. This could be a guide to a city, restaurant or café recommendations, an essay on some aspect of Budapest/Hungary worth exploring, hotel recommendations, an itinerary, or anything else that could be useful to readers with an interest in Hungary.
Each newsletter will feature a selection of our current inspirations, including: upcoming food and cultural happenings in Hungary, where we’ve been eating and drinking, and Hungary-related things to read, watch, and listen to.
This newsletter is mostly authored by Carolyn Bánfalvi, co-founder of Taste Hungary, who has been living in and writing about Budapest for more than 20 years. Carolyn grew up in America, and recently also became a Hungarian citizen. She is the author of Food Wine Budapest (Little Bookroom, 2008), and her writing has appeared in Saveur, National Geographic Traveler, and many other outlets. Follow Carolyn on Instagram for more about life in Hungary.
Right now these writings will be free, but it’s possible that this could change to a subscription-based newsletter in the future
We look forward to having you here!
